Connect to WhatsApp

The Feed Reader Bot could send its feeds to a WhatsApp account, group or channel. This method required connecting the bot to your WhatsApp account and was a paid service, 10€/month.

Connect to Signal

The Feed Reader Bot can send its feeds to a Signal account or group.

Contact @jcmag for the procedure.

Current limits: To avoid the bot's Signal account from being banned, limits can be applied, such as the daily number of messages sent. Current limit: 100 messages/day.

Connect to Matrix

The Feed Reader Bot can send its feeds to a Matrix room.

  1. Add the bot account @thefeedreaderbot:matrix.org to your room.
  2. Contact @jcmag so the bot can accept the request.
  3. Find your room ID in Room settings, under the advanced settings.
  4. Use the /matrix command followed by the room ID where you want to send feeds.

Type /group or /channel first if you want to send the feeds configured for a group or channel.

Connect to Delta Chat

The Feed Reader Bot can send its feeds to a Delta Chat contact or group.

Add the bot in Delta Chat with this Delta Chat invitation link, or scan the QR code below.

Send feeds to a Delta Chat contact or group

  1. For a direct chat, open the bot from the invitation link or QR code. For a group, add deltachat@thefeedreaderbot.com to the group.
  2. In that Delta Chat contact or group, type /id.
  3. The bot replies with a Telegram command containing a temporary validation code.
  4. Copy that full command and send it to The Feed Reader Bot in Telegram within 15 minutes.

Security note: E-mail addresses and numeric chat IDs alone are not accepted. The validation code proves that you can write in the Delta Chat conversation.

Type /group or /channel first if you want to send the feeds configured for a Telegram group or channel.

Delta Chat channels are not supported because the bot account cannot be added to a channel.

Webhook integration

Connect to Slack

The Feed Reader Bot can send messages to Slack channels.

  1. Follow the first 3 steps in the Slack webhook guide: add an app, create a webhook, and copy its URL.
  2. Go back to Telegram.
  3. Type /slack followed by the webhook URL.

Webhook integration

Send feed messages to Discord

The Feed Reader Bot can send messages to Discord channels.

  1. In Discord, open your channel and click Server Settings.
  2. Select Webhooks, then click Create Webhook.
  3. Enter a name, optionally add an icon, and copy the Webhook URL.
  4. Go back to Telegram and type /discord followed by the URL.

Receive messages from Discord to Telegram

  1. Add DiscordFeedBot to your Discord channel using this invitation link.
  2. Select your server and click Continue.
  3. The bot only needs Read Messages and Read Message History. Click Authorize.
  4. In your server, click Edit channel.
  5. Open Permissions, click Add members or roles, and select TheFeedReaderBot. The bot must appear in the members list.
  6. Close the menu and copy the last identifier in the URL. This is your channel identifier.

Generate the feed with bridge2

Done for the Discord part. Now open the bridge2 website and open the Discord bridge.

  1. Open the Discord bridge.
  2. Paste the identifier of your channel.
  3. Click Display.
  4. Click Copy command.
  5. Paste the command in the bot's chat window to subscribe the bot to this feed.
